About This Course

Welcome to the Innovation Co-Lab’s “Introduction to Linux” course. This course was designed as a comprehensive overview of using Linux command line tools (also handy for Mac users) for a variety of tasks. It’s intended to be a prerequisite for a variety of CS and ECE classes at Duke, as well as for anyone interested in learning Linux.

Note: This course makes use of some Duke-specific materials, including access to Lynda.com (free for Duke students), and our VM-Manage system for requisitioning a Virtual Machine (only accessible with Duke NetID).
